Officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to East Main Street at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 24, where there was a report of a crash involving with injuries to a driver.
The investigation into the crash found that John Smith, 67, of Putnam Valley was allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent and failed to maintain his lane while driving, leading to the crash.
Smith was arrested and charged at Yorktown Police Headquarters with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent.
Following his arraignment, Smith was released to a sober third-party. He is due back in Yorktown Court on Thursday, Sept. 6 to answer the charge.
